Placement Regions

TEACH Ambassadors will be placed in schools that have been selected by TEACH South Africa and partners such as Provincial Departments of Education and other organizations placing teachers in under-resourced schools. TEACH South Africa and partners review all accepted TEACH Ambassadors credentials, along with other relevant information shared by the TEACH Ambassador, and will match school requirements to TEACH Ambassadors’ abilities and skills.

In 2009, TEACH South Africa placed its first group of 25 TEACH Ambassadors at schools in Katlehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus, in the Ekurhuleni South District of Gauteng.

For the 2010 academic year, we are currently in negotiations to place TEACH Ambassadors with the Western Cape Education Department, LEAP Schools of Maths and Science, Historic Schools Restoration Project, Limpopo Education Department and the Eastern Cape Education Department.

Living in the Regions

We recommend that TEACH Ambassadors secure accommodation close to the schools where they will be working. Alternatively, they can ensure that they have access to transport that will enable them to travel easily to their schools.
